Note: More routes and maps may be added to this page as they become available.

These notes are intended to help you choose which areas to head for. Cycling routes close to Bike Express drop off points are available from the CTC. These routes are scenic, following quiet roads and a few include alternative ‘off road’ sections.

Popular start point for a tour of the Pyrenees – these mountains are a rewarding destination for cyclists who enjoy the challenge of long, scenic climbs with spectacular descents. One of the ultimate challenges is to cycle along the length of the Pyrenees (more than 700 kms) and meet the Bike Express at Perpignan for the return journey home.

Bayonne is also ideal for those cycling the Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago de Compostella in north west Spain. Cycling pilgrims could take their bikes by train from Compostella to Hendaye and Bayonne for the Bike Express home.
