These notes are intended to help you choose which areas to head for. Cycling routes close to Bike Express drop off points are available from the CTC. These routes are scenic, following quiet roads and a few include alternative ‘off road’ sections.
Further north the Montagne Noire, Monts d’Espinouse and the Haut Languedoc offer varied and sometimes challenging cycling and the chance to visit historic places such as Cahors, Albi and Castres. To the west is the historical city of Carcassonne and an opportunity to explore the foothills of the Pyrenees and the Pyrenees proper.
